About Chennai Division

The Chennai Division of Southern Railway was formed on 31st August 1956 and has been a cornerstone of rail transportation in Tamil Nadu and beyond. Our Commercial Branch manages passenger services, freight operations, and amenities across 159 stations.

With a robust infrastructure spanning over 700 km of route and 2,098 km of track, we serve approximately 11.81 lakh passengers daily, comprising both suburban and non-suburban segments. Our division operates 906 trains daily, ensuring connectivity and convenience.

The Commercial Branch oversees various sections including Passenger Marketing, Catering, Parcels, Goods Operations, and Passenger Amenities, all working in harmony to provide world-class railway services.
